Donut Grilled Cheese With Bacon & A Maple Glaze

2 glazed donuts, sliced in half horizontally

8 slices bacon

4 slices cheddar cheese

2 tablespoons maple syrup

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Begin by cooking the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until it’s nicely crispy. Then, set it aside on paper towels to drain any excess grease.

In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, ground cinnamon, and cayenne pepper (if you’re up for a bit of heat) to create a spicy-sweet glaze.

Toast the sliced donuts in the same skillet, cut side down, until they turn golden brown. This not only warms them up but also adds a delightful crunch.

Flip the donuts, and on each bottom half, lay out 2 slices of cheddar cheese, followed by the crispy bacon, crumbled for ease of eating and even distribution.

Generously drizzle the prepared maple syrup mixture over the bacon, ensuring each bite will have a perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and savory.

Cap it off with the top halves of the donuts, press gently to seal the deal, and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes—just long enough for the cheese to melt and the flavors to meld.

*Note You can add another half of Donut in the middle for a 3 tier sandwich
