Penne Bolognese

Ingredients:
12 oz penne pasta 
1 lb ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork) 
1 onion, chopped 
2 cloves garlic, minced 
1 carrot, finely chopped 
1 celery stalk, finely chopped 
1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes 
2 tablespoons tomato paste 
1/2 cup red wine (optional) 
1 teaspoon dried oregano 
1 teaspoon dried basil 
Salt and pepper to taste 
1/2 cup milk or cream 
Fresh parsley or basil for garnish 
Grated Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions:
Cook Pasta:
Cook the penne according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
Sauté Vegetables:
In a large skillet, heat some olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
Brown Meat:
Add the ground beef (or meat mix) to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain excess fat if necessary.
Add Tomatoes:
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine (if using), oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Finish Sauce:
Stir in the milk or cream, allowing it to simmer for an additional 5 minutes. Adjust seasoning to taste.
Combine with Pasta:
Toss the cooked penne in the Bolognese sauce until well coated.
Serve:
Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley or basil and grated Parmesan cheese.
