A Simple Natural Trick That Drove All the Flies Away in Minutes
All of this turned our workshop window into a true open invitation for flies. We tried everything:
we closed the windows, hung mosquito nets and pieces of fabric over the doors, and even stuck fly tape to the ceiling—which quickly filled up with insects.
We also tried chemical sprays like Dichlorvos Terminator, but it didn’t solve the problem. We used other popular home remedies too, yet the flies kept coming back again and again.
Then I suddenly remembered a bottle of clove oil concentrate we had bought at the Nikitsky Botanical Garden. Unlike most essential oils sold in stores, this one was not diluted—it was highly concentrated and very strong.
Why Clove Oil Works
Flies have an extremely sensitive sense of smell, and they absolutely hate the strong scent of clove oil.
Clove contains a natural compound called eugenol, which acts as a powerful insect repellent. While it smells warm and pleasant to humans, flies find it unbearable and immediately move away.
How I Used It
I mixed a small amount of clove oil with water and sprayed it on:
-
Curtains
-
Mosquito nets
-
Window screens
Then I soaked cotton balls with the oil and placed them near the windows and entry points.
The Result
After:
-
1 minute… fewer flies
-
5 minutes… almost none
-
10 minutes… completely gone
The flies disappeared as if by magic. No chemicals, no poison, and no unpleasant smell—just a natural solution that actually worked.
Extra Tips
-
Refresh the spray once a day or when the smell fades.
-
You can also place clove-soaked cotton near trash bins or door frames.
-
Combine with basic hygiene (no food left open) for best results.
